An encounter with poetry at the CEW
The Center for Excellence in Writing (CEW) organized a writing workshop for students of English and French, aiming to raise awareness of the role writing can play in their academic, intellectual, and personal development, and to encourage them to take up the pen and express themselves.
The highlight, however, was the intervention of Houcine Boudouissa, author of “Vie en vers !”
Speaking in French, he guided learners through writing as an act of feeling, where words are not just structured, but lived.
He invited them to explore emotion, memory, and voice, showing that poetry begins where language becomes personal.
By the end of the session, learners produced their own verses: brief, sincere, and expressive.
A moment where writing moved from exercise to experience.
